Suffolk County Sheriff

The Sheriff of Suffolk County manages all operations at the Suffolk County House of Correction, the Nashua Street Jail and the Civil Process Division. The Sheriff provides care, custody and rehabilitative support for inmates and pre–trial detainees, and oversees a management, security and administrative staff of over 1,000.

Steven Tompkins (D, Incumbent) won the Democratic primary, beating Sandy Zamor-Calixte by 19 points.

Tompkins assumed office in 2013 (appointed by former Governor Deval Patrick) and won election in 2014. There is no Republican candidate for the office in 2022.
