Suffolk County Sheriff
The Sheriff of Suffolk County manages all operations at the Suffolk County House of Correction, the Nashua Street Jail and the Civil Process Division. The Sheriff provides care, custody and rehabilitative support for inmates and pre–trial detainees, and oversees a management, security and administrative staff of over 1,000.
Steven Tompkins (D, Incumbent) is the current officeholder, who assumed office in 2013, appointed by former Governor Deval Patrick, then elected in 2014.
Sandy Zamor-Calixte (D) joined the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department in 2006. She was hired by the Department as the Coordinator of Community Outreach and Youth Programming, becoming the Chief of External Affairs and Communications in 2014.
