House of Rep. 15th Suffolk District

The State House of Representatives, along with the State Senate, forms the legislative branch of the state of Massachusetts. The legislative chamber creates laws and sets the budget.

Nika Elugardo (D)

Duties of members include passing bills on public policy matters, setting levels for state spending, raising and lowering taxes, and voting to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes. There are 160 total seats in the House. The term length is 2 years and there are no term limits.

The incumbent is Nika Elugardo (D), who is running in the 2022 race for the State Senate 2nd Suffolk District. The Democratic Party offers a field of candidates vying to replace her. 

Richard Fierro (D) graduated from Northeastern University in 2021. His work experience includes a stint as Administrative Assistant at the State House. He likes bikes. 

Roxanne Longoria (D) served as the Director of Youth Homelessness Initiatives in Boston. Her political focus is on criminal justice reform. 

Sam Montaño (D) is a legislative advocate for affordable housing, equity, and climate resistance, who has received endorsements from Nika Elugardo and Sona Chang-Diaz. Sam’s Twitter bio states: “Redistribution of power and money as priorities.” 

Mary Ann Nelson (D) campaign Facebook site reads: “Mary Ann Nelson Is an imaginative, problem solver who wants to enact state legislation that will improve the lives of people in 15th Suffolk, the City and Massachusetts.”
