Anjimile: “Father”
Anjimile drops another track off the upcoming album The King. It’s “Father”. Where is your father? Last time I checked, tap dancing in Fort Lauderdale.
Hey Boston, are you going to the Anjimile gig at ICA Boston in December? Kind of a baller move to play gigs at temples to contemporary art. The musician is leaning hard into the “high art” image during the marketing campaign for the new album. Lots of fancy portrait photos that looked like they took weeks to plan, days to set up, hours of sitting, and a chunk of money to finance.
Credit 4AD for checking all the promotional push boxes. The spare acoustic jam “Father” doesn’t feel like it needs so many hyper-visual bells & whistles, but no points off for trying.
