Anjimile: “The King”
No sooner does Hump Day News wax nostalgic about former Boston resident Anjimile, writing up “Your Tree” from Giver Taker, than the now North Carolina-based artist drops the first single from the forthcoming full-length The King.
Is that bad timing or good timing? Did we wishcast a new Anjimile album into existence?
Talk about swinging for the fences. The new single is the title track off an album called “The King.” Is this hip hop braggadocio, or pop fable about contemporary politics? Time will tell. In the meantime Anjimile is getting the star treatment from 4AD, tending the artist like a plant expected to bear plenty of fruit.
The artist already has Boston’s heart. Will the rest of the world jump aboard? As always, time will tell…
