Anjimile: “Your Tree”

Once upon a time Anjimile was an Allston resident, right?

A talented musician who attracted the attention of quality labels and maybe, possibly, perhaps seemed destined for big things… Father/Daughter put out Giver Taker in 2020 and Reunion in 2021. That ranks well beyond the achievements of 99% of the bands coming out of Allston Ferret City.

But wait, there’s more! Prestige super label 4AD came calling for a one-off single release “Stranger.” Surely, a stepping stone to greater things. Yes, no, maybe so?

No points deducted for not touring a ton during the pandemic. The slate of shows Anjimile has performed in the past few years is relatively modest, but mostly high profile and/or high prestige events. It’s the kind of star cultivation treatment that you see less and less. Who knows if this avocado will ripen, but you’ll love “Your Tree” right now. A spare folk thriller that heats up with left field percussion and gripping ambient overtones.
