Shady Bug: “lizard”

The last 3 seconds of “lizard” by Shady Bug sounds like the first 3 seconds of Sonic Youth’s “100%.” Nice close out!

The fundamental bones of the rest of the song are a lilty, wilty, off-kilty jam that hovers on the edge of in/out of tune. It’s a nice frame for Hannah Rainey’s exasperated, introspectorated lyrical soul spew. Some unexpected twists and turns elevates Shady Bug’s songwriting above the standard pop fare.

A lot of practice went into sounding unpracticed. You get the feeling that Shady Bug would slay live with shattered atmospheric jams. Let’s go see them live!
