p1nkf1re: “red 155”
Don’t lean on Aphex Twin comparisons in your writing. That’s what I tell myself every morning when I look in the mirror. Because there are countless galaxies of electronic sound that don’t need to be categorized within the universe of sonic possibility pioneered by Richard D. James. But goddamn, would you tell a literature professor not to talk about Homer or Shakespeare or Dostoevsky? Maybe you would, I don’t know, we’ve never met. There are times, though, that the comparison provides some helpful context. Our highlighted track “Red 155” by p1nkf1re sounds like Richard D. James Album-era Aphex Twin. Slippery, playful, less noise, high-strung beats. Off the Red EP.
