Jessica Pavone: “Three Trees”
An oblique reference to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons? Our highlighted track from Jessica Pavone is titled “Three Trees,” and it comes right after the opener “Reverse Bloom.” Feels like there’s something in the way of growth, fertility, and the natural order straining to establish itself in the drawn out violin and viola soundings on this contemporary classical record. A minimalist depiction of yearning for space, for light, for warmth. Like the first sprouts of spring, with a faint note of danger, as if a flock of birds had alighted on the open field to feed on the seeds before they had a chance to fully take root. Nature can be a real bitch like that. Via Astral Spirits.
