Reeper What You Sower

High Reeper celebrates a record release at Johnny Brenda’s on Friday, 29 November 2024.

Witching and Honey open the triplestack bill at the Philly hotspot.

DJ Riff Mountain played a healthy amount of Ozzy before, between, and after sets.

Honey

The four-piece Honey played a metal set, fast and loud, in a smoky bed of ever expanding fog.

Witching

A doomy, screamo metal five-piece called Witching held down the second slot. Did the fronter say a friend had just died, someone in need of an organ transplant who never received one in time. It takes very little to get me up on the “free healthcare for all” soapbox, but not even free healthcare is going to produce enough spare organs out of the blue for everyone who needs them. How to fix that in a humane way?

High Reeper

The belles of the ball, High Reeper, launching their new album Renewed By Death. The ultra-limited vinyl run is already sold out. But maybe they have a few copies kicking around to sell at the next live show? Doomy, stony, thrashy, with plenty of guitar solos, drum fills, and he-banshee vocals.
