The Mall: “Burning Age”
Written By Michael Gutierrez
There’s a hint of Bloc Party “fuck it, let’s dance” vibe that always sounds a hair’s breadth away from transforming The Mall’s sound into a doom thrasher. But the drum machine and synth washes lift our highlighted track “Burning Age” out of the moshpit and into a fleet-of-foot post-punker. Maybe it’s just the absolutely uncompromising commitment to the color purple on the merchandise design, but you can throw the “darkwave” descriptor into the mix as well.
