Sasha Berliner: “Jade”

Sasha Berliner hails from San Francisco, but currently calls New York home. What does New York call her back? Our highlighted track “Jade” is the leadoff number of her latest LP Onyx.

In eight songs she hips, jops, and skumps around the playground of contemporary jazz with an “all-star” cast. Her Bandcamp notes suggest Jimmy Fallon co-produced the album, but this may simply be an accident of grammar and syntax.

Shout out to “My Funny Valentine I” where Berliner lets her vibraphonist freak flag fly to full effect.
