Shout out to the Boston Music Awards.
Hump Day News has been reeling off some preview coverage of the upcoming shindig in December.
If you want to vote, you can vote. Though the voting ends at some point in November, so…
Along with highlighting the BMA nominees, Hump Day News shined the spotlight on a band or artist, here and there, that we think would be a great add to the ‘Best Of’ lists.
Case in point: we added one of the cancels on this Sunday night bill Jean Paul Jean Paul to the Rawk Artist of the Year list.
Based on what? Based on our scientific methods. Check it out.
Karson.
Karson. (with a period – this isn’t a new sentence!) opened a sleepy Sunday night at O’Brien’s Pub. The vocalist performed with a four-piece band, charting their way through the open seas of contemporary rock/pop with some hip hop inflections. The laptop at stage right added a few synth tremors and processed warblings while Karson. (with a period – still not a new sentence!) dropped a few Sprechgesang bars.
Good & You?
Good Ampersand You Question Mark served up maximal rock with minimal personnel. The sonic holocaust wrought upon the stage sounded much bigger than a trio. High technique rock mashing. A surfeit of finger tapping method from the second guitarist (no bassist in this bunch), which might take a more delicate mix to shine than is reliably found at the Lighthouse Upon the Charles. Rumor has it the band has new music on the way via all their usual platforms.
REMY
REMY (ALL CAPS, no extra punctuation marks) performed a vocals-forward set of contemporary rock/pop as a four-piece, featuring Anika Mladineo (Walhalla) on guitar.
