South Africa’s Thandi Ntuli comes stateside to record an album with Carlos Niño. Available via International Anthem, naturally. Niño must be a co-owner of the label at this point, given the amount of music he’s put out on the Chicago imprint. If not owner, then at least a voice whose opinion commands enough respect to act as the musical intermediary and otherwise North American host of Ntuli as she graces the full-length Rainbow Revisited with her particular twinkling of the keys. On our highlighted track “Nomayoyo,” Niño sets his percussive contribution to the “OFF” position and lets the jazz pianist chanteuse work her solo magic.
