There’s a broken lilt to Sunshine Riot’s “Parole Board” that reminds you of the meandering paths and detours of indie rock greats Pavement. A love of jangly guitar textures too.
The Boston band recounts a kind of alt-country narrative with the refrain “Take me home, so I can break your bones,” delivered with vocal grit. Break whose bones? Maybe the rehabilitation has not quite stuck, but no one at HDN is a fan of the prison-industrial complex. Sweet closing solo up and down the mountain side…
