Mountain Movers: “Bodega On My Mind / The Sun Shines On The Moon”
A 10+ minute psych droner with possible autoharp sightings. To be clear, Mountain Movers’ Dan Greene can play guitar, so says the Bandcamp liner notes, but sometimes he chooses to play the autoharp. Which is his right.
Can’t find any song-specific notes on our highlighted track “Bodega On My Mind / The Sun Shines On The Moon.” Is that an autoharp banging out the lead chord progression? Not sure, but sort of sounds like one.
What’s that sound like? There’s a certain uniform morbidity in the chord changes of an autoharp. When all that’s required to change chords is pushing a new button, you lose a little of the liminal sonic personality associated with fingers moving across a live fretboard, finding their new position.
It’s the kind of thing that you hardly notice when it’s there, but you miss it when it’s gone. Shout out to the bongos. Available via Trouble In Mind Records.
