Mat Kerekes: “Motorbike”
Can’t help but think about that old Daniel Johnston song “Speeding Motorcycle.” You immediately understand the sense of beautiful freedom that the vision of the two-wheeled beast brings to mind. So it goes with Mat Kerekes’ “Motorbike,” although he’s operating with slicker production than can be squeezed from a toy organ in your relative’s garage. The Michigander crafts an indie pop sparkler about how hard it is to say goodbye. You know what you’re riding that motorbike away from, but you can never quite be sure what you’re driving it towards. Off the full-length To Dream of Something Wicked. Via Wax Bodega.
