Marem Ladson: “Rayo de Luna”
Written By Michael Gutierrez
The solo guitar strumming is ramshackle lofi indie rock thumbery. But it’s recorded with such care, and paired with such a voice, that the entire package starts to feel inevitable. Marem Ladson lives on both sides of the Atlantic and she’ll sing a song in English or Spanish, as you please.
Our highlighted track “Rayo de Luna” takes up the latter, delivering lines like “De lu, de lu, rayo de lu, de lu” or “Moonbeam, moonbeam, ray of moonlight, moonlight.” It’s somehow comforting to know that artists of any shade, stripe, language, or geography can’t get enough of the goddamn moon.
