Habibi: “POV”
Don’t usually go for the ‘skit sample’ set up. You know, where the band includes a staged clip of some dialogue, or found sound, to set the scene for whatever narrative is about to unfold. But the clip passes quickly enough, and the song pops. Our highlighted track “POV” is a kind of neo-disco groove, which is one kind of song that Habibi writes. They write all sorts of songs. The lead single they try to steer you towards at their Bandcamp is called “My Moon,” and it sounds totally different, like an alt synth instrumental love ballad. In other words, Habibi has a lot of tools in the toolbox. Check out their full-length LP Dreamachine if you gotta catch em all.
