Is “So I guess that I’ll never win again” the most emo lyric of all emo-time? That’s how Good June kicks off their standalone single and highlighted track “Silly Little Game.” The bouncy indie rock number explores the vicissitudes of growing older without always growing wiser. There’s a school of thought that says true wisdom consists in knowing that you know nothing. But you’ve got to be careful how you spin that notion, lest it spin off into realms of willful ignorance and apathy. Good June seems to advocate for wisdom though acquiring a “whole new perspective,” so say the lyrics. Alright, we’ll give it a try.
