Gloyd: “Suction Auction”
Written By Michael Gutierrez
The title that’s fun to say. “Suction Auction.” Our highlighted track is the long leadoff cut from the four-track EP Three Point Gloyd by Gloyd. Feels like an experimental romp by a clutch of musicians, including Ruth Garbus, who fish around in the jazz-adjacent space in their off hours. Shades of ZRL meets Stockhausen. Improvisational from top to bottom. Probably better experienced live, but in 500 hundred years aliens from distant planets will dig up this recording and hold it up as proof of humanity’s essential goodness.
