Cecil Frena: “You Can Say Never”
A return to hardcore for Cecil Frena? The artist masterminded the late Aughts, early Tweens hyperpop sensation Gobble Gobble, which subsequently became Born Gold. Why change such a killer nom de guerre? Possibly a kind of push for commercial success, looking for a meatier bone after the hurly burly days of the Infinitour dragged his crew of electric merrymen from one end of the world to the other to make magic on shoestring budgets. Time rolls on. Is it premature to understand Frena landing on his own name as moniker as the final stage of his artistic evolution? When the player finally removes the mask to reveal his true nature? Premature and then some. The PIT BOSS album creates yet another character for Frena to speak his truths. Hardcore punk or not, you can still hear that electro artist sound production propelling the politically-charged passages forward.
