The Endorphins: “Myopic Dystopia”
“Myopic Dystopia” off Nothing Is Real, out November 11th.
The Endorphins are true to the title of our highlighted track, “Myopic Dystopia,” producing a genuinely hellish vision.
“When they lie you must believe it
Can’t express the worries and secrets
Try to and your hope will still decline
Stripped of all the joy and pleasures
Time vacancy; neurotransmitters
Try to live but you can’t afford your time”
Yikes! The Boston five-piece advertises itself as dipping into the psych rock sphere, but the surging power chords, the machine gun percussion, and the chainsaw guitar effects make for a trip too dark. Let’s call it alt-punk instead. Shades of Foo Fighters at their most insistent. You won’t want to live in the nightmarish hellscape they describe in three minutes and forty-three seconds, but how about a quick visit?
