Tiny Wine: “Replace It”
A sweet sounding medium fi indie rock ditty. It’s Tiny Wine, straight outta Dover! And what is medium fi anyway? The dividing line between the lo fi sound and more high-priced, professional production used to be so goddamn clear that there wasn’t any breathing room for a middle ground. Nowadays you have pro quality recording equipment everywhere. Big name pop musicians are making entire albums on their laptops (almost). So what the hell is the difference between high and low? “Lo fi” does still exist, but it’s more of a textural choice than a financial one. And not all bands choose to “lo” the “fi” as hard as possible. Hence, medium fi, and a thousand & one degrees of fidelity between here and the moon.
