The Brides: “Get To You”
The HoZac archival project is humming along. The Chicago punk label has been a busy bee, digging up musical documents in the history of punk that you never knew existed and didn’t know were essential. One man’s oddity is another man’s obscurity.
More to the point what they’re unearthing is a particularly midwestern perspective on punk, which is a vital strand in our musical mosaic too often lost beneath the burbling and gurgling, chortling and snortling, fuzzling and nuzzling of East & West Coast histories. Third Coast!
In this installment: The Brides, AKA “Chicago’s Best Band of the 1990s.” Says who? Maybe you. Our highlighted track “Get To You” just might kick you in the ass.
