Paper Lady: “Starcross”

A relentless pop thumper that’s driven by the bass drum. It’s our highlighted track “Starcross” by Paper Lady. We don’t usually make a fuss about what sort of apparatus you listen to music on, but if you’re listening to this song on anything that drops the low end? You’re not getting the song. Shades of Broken Social Scene when that bass kicks in like a drum machine – a real Aughts era electropop feel. The refrain, though, transports the listener to messier sonic regions. Shades of Garbage with massively overpowered walls of guitars towering over the vocals in terms of texture, if not volume. Off the EP Traveling Exploding Star.
