µ-Ziq: “1977”

Mike Paradinas, aka µ-Ziq, can now be counted as a veteran in the sub-genre of artists whose monikers frustrate typesetters and layout editors.

A lot of electronic musicians have come and gone in the space between the start and the present of Paradinas’ career. What’s given µ-Ziq its staying power is a keen pop sensibility that knows how to self-censor enough not to scare off the normies. You can hear it in our highlighted track “1977” (feat. Meemo Comma). You know, no three-hour sandpaper record disco sessions.

But give him credit: he never fell down the lick-laden rat’s nest of a Moby or Chemical Brothers. 1977 is another album that treads the line between experimental pop and vacant New Age thrills, with plenty of guest spots.
