Loz Goddard: “Upside Down Melted Chair”
More ambient electro from the Manchester brain bather. Our highlighted song is the title track from Loz Goddard’s latest EP Upside Down Melted Chair. An airy range of fleet-footed percussive elements ride along the wave of a muted bass thump while the beat stylist fiddles with the tone, timbre, and texture knobs. It’s been a while since we reviewed Goddard in the pages of Hump Day News, having enjoyed his full-length Balloon Tree Road. Looks like he’s released at least one other EP between then and now. Little bread crumbs sprinkled along the path of his musical evolution. “Upside Down Melted Chair” eschews some of the more experimental “found sound” maneuvers he’s used elsewhere to focus on pure dancehall thrills.
