Kristina Warren: “Rectangles”

Not enough rectangles in the music video for “Rectangles.” But the aspect ratio itself is a rectangle, so…. Kristina Warren is an abstract experimental musician. She likes shapes. The whistling hum of amplified instruments on the edge of feedback foregrounds the analog element in our highlighted track. Shades of Animal Hospital. Whatever digital/synthetic sounds are being used are aloso framed within a certain kind of analog presentation that brings with it its own peculiar textures. The tubes, the wires, the crackling hum of twentieth-century technology, and a twentieth-century modernist’s love for clean shapes bathed in just the right amount of grime. Off Three Rivulets.
