JVK: “Body Double”
Body Double was a great Brian DePalma film. Back when he was still making good movies with a kind of noirish, Hitchcockian flair transmuted into an 80s color palette. But goddamn, his films got awful. Who knows if this standalone single “Body Double” from JVK is a reference to the filmmaker, or just a sort of nod to the cool concept of a body double in general? Fronter Jo Krieger works up a riot grrrl lather in her voice when she wants to. Pure rock n roll, complete with a tapping guitar solo. There needs to be a better name for that type of guitar style than “tapping,” but we play the hand we’re dealt.
