This album is American badlands vamping up front, experimental minimalism in the middle, and arthouse production in back. John Also Bennett makes an Americana first impression with the massive teardrop opening of our highlighted track “Nowhere” on his lap steel guitar. But don’t expect any roadhouse refrains about oversized trucks and cheating wives. The instrumental record was recorded mostly in Europe. The cowboy textures are mapped onto the formal structures of avant garde modernism and postmodernism. Giddy up!
