Entire world wars were kicked off by events with barely more weight. What’s trivial in one sense, though, can open the door to more meaningful reflection. There’s a sense of helplessness before a machine that takes but never gives. A more apt metaphor for working class life in the industrialized 21st century would be hard to find.
