H.C. McEntire: “Dovetail”

Durham, North Carolina’s H.C. McEntire crafts a spare country ballad on our highlighted track “Dovetail.” Not much more than a strong voice and a gentle piano picking out the tune until a bigger sound kicks in on the chorus. This is Research Triangle Americana, so expect a brainier approach to the material beyond hammering on the same old candy-coated, red, white, and blue backwoods mantras. Extra points for the sticky, icky low tempo guitar solo on the far end of “Rows of Clover.”
