FACS: “When You Say”

Chicago’s beloved FACS returns with 2023 full-length Still Life In Decay. It’s art rock for the new millennium, which still sounds enough like art rock for the old millennium if you’re a washed up Sonic Youth fan with no place to turn. The band squeezes entire worlds and foreign vistas out of the toothpaste tube of the guitar, bass, drums rock n roll trio. In a pop music landscape filled with kids wearing Metallica shirts purchased at Urban Outfitters, it’s nice to have a band like FACS (hey, Pile too!) do interesting stuff with heavy sounds. Our highlighted track “When You Say” picks up steam when the guitar enters an echo canyon of fuzzed out effects before a final grind to the finish.
