David New Joy: “Massachusetts Yeah”
Don’t overthink it. It’s a song about Massachusetts. It’s David New Joy!
You probably live in Massachusetts. Bask in the in-jokes. Served up via a throwback New Wave synth hook for the type of dance-targeted indie rock that flourished in the Aughts. Shades of Franz Ferdinand, Interpol, Klaxons, you name it.
Did David New Joy get a dig in at the Dig? How about the struggling MBTA? How do you put billions of dollars into a short stretch of track and not realize that the tracks are too wide apart, or too close together?
For a state that considers itself smart, forward thinking, ahead of the curve, it seems like we’re saddled with some of the same cost-of-living and infrastructure woes as states that are run by conservative billionaire demagogue warlords. Go figure.
