Damon Locks and Rob Mazurek: “The Concord Hour”

Damon Locks and Rob Mazurek’s collaboration lands avant garde jazz somewhere on the dark side of the analog moon. If patiently doled out jazz solos with applause breaks is your thing, this album is not for you. Instead, prepare yourself for a sonic bubblebath of found sounds and jazzy suds. Our highlighted track “The Concord Hour” plays it a bit straighter on the jazz tip, allowing a horn to feel its way through the final minutes of the track. More or less uninterrupted, and partnered with the subtle accompaniment of low key sampling.
