Boston’s Layzi makes suave, stylish bedroom electropop that deserves a martini and a beautiful sunset. There’s a mood, an ambience, an atmosphere of effervescent bourgeois daydream seduces as it soothes. 

It makes sense that our highlighted track “Shop Around” was issued as part of a singles series by Los Angeles-based Spirit Goth Records. Layzi calls Boston home, but the sound is West Coast: wind in your hair, cruising along the PCH. 

Much is made of the internet age ambiguating all borders and boundaries between language, art, culture, politics. Maybe so. But there is a discernible vibe shift in music as you move east to west, and back. Even quintessential Lower East Side artrocker Kim Gordon sounds different in the City of Angels.

East Coaster: what are these vibes you speak of? Where do I get these vibes? How much will I pay for vibes per month? Who will I have to chew out to obtain the vibes? Who will chew me out?

West Coaster: don’t explain the vibes – feel the vibes.
