Lurid Purple Flowers go light on the stage banter, heavy on the rock. It’s all business from the get go. David Rubin is no stranger to the Jamaica Plain dive, appearing regularly with the Jerry Garcia Band tribute band Diamond Blues. That might sound needlessly recherche (it’s all wavy gravy, right?), but they’ve got to distinguish themselves from the other Grateful Dead extended universe band that performs on Friday nights.
