Smell The Love Returns

Rick Berlin

The JP Music Fest fundraiser was none more back at Midway Cafe on Saturday, 18 February 2023.

Gone but not forgotten, Smell The Love lived once more after a multiple year hiatus.

Last seen and heard in 2019, the night of music, raffles, and good vibes greeted a crowd eager to get Jamaica Plain’s own JP Music Fest on good financial footing in 2023.

The festival hit a milestone in 2022 with its ten-year anniversary, celebrating with the likes of Thalia Zedek Band, Hallelujah The Hills, Walter Sickert and the Army of Broken Toys, Double Star, The Chops, food trucks, and generous porta potty sponsor Badville.

2022 JP Music Fest

Speaking of Badville, Rick Berlin graced the Smell The Love stage at Midway Cafe, along with a host of local talents. Rock n rollers, opera legends, musical mavens, harmonica hawkers, aughts-era iPod bangers, ukulele smashers, and 70s-era Brian Eno lookalikes all hit their mark.

What will the summer of 2023 bring for the JP Music Fest? Stay tuned. In the meantime, if you’re interested in performing, or purveying food, or sponsoring more porta potties, you can contact the organizers to help make the yearly shindig shine its brightest.
