Extra Cosmic

Chicago’s Panda Riot returns with their new album Extra Cosmic.

Julee Cruise vox + growling guitars + tight rhythm section = space time.

Chicago’s Panda Riot returns with their new album Extra Cosmic, their first full-length since 2017’s well-received Infinity Maps. The band has self-described as shoegaze and dreampop for a while now. That sounds right. The lead vocals aim for a soft-as-silk Julee Cruise-type (RIP) delivery, albeit a bit pepped-up, which forms a nice contrast with the walls of grimy, growling guitars. You can hear these dynamics and more on the title track of the new album, “Extra Cosmic.”
