Boring Angel

An oldie but a goodie. Oneohtrix Point Never has become a big deal music guy for scoring films since the full-length LP R Plus Seven came out in 2013. The smaller Good Time film score in 2017 was followed by the score for major Hollywood hit Uncut Gems in 2019.

Imagine Kevin Garnett and Adam Sandler bouncing around in the bizarrely banal world created by the Safdie Brothers with Oneohtrix Point Never percolating bubbles of digital bliss and anxiety in the background. Anything is possible!

Our highlighted track “Boring Angels” gives you an early sense of the cinematic drama that the electronic magician can conjure up. The song, clocking in at a mere 4:16, reaches epic scope. There’s nothing boring about it; the approach is minimal and the effect is maximal. When the song hits climax, the skies open up, either sucking you up to heaven or spitting you back down below.
