Deshaun Watson About To Skate?
In-house NFL disciplinary officer Sue Robinson issued a 15-page report on August 1st describing the consequences “recommended” in response to the Deshaun Watson serial sexual assault scandal. The QB was recently traded with a record-breaking payout from the Houston Texans to the Cleveland Browns amid a hurricane of legal accusations.
The NFL review, penned by Sue Robinson, recommends 6-game suspension and no more sensual massages, subject to appeal by NFLPA and player. That works out to roughly 1 game per 4 sexual assaults.
The NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has final say on the matter, regardless of recommendation and regardless of appeal. Let’s see where the NFL stands on violence against women.
Reminder: all-universe WR Josh Gordon lost most of his playing days to suspensions for smoking pot. [Fill in player] suffered [fill in graver consequence] for [fill in more minor offense]. Where will this end up? Given the league’s track record, money will trump ethics concerns.
The Cleveland Browns have a quarter-billion dollars on the line. They need Watson on the field and they need the allegations to go away.
The Houston Texans organization and fanbase is anxious to move on.
The New England Patriots (8-9) fell to host Buffalo Bills (13-3) in the final week of the 2022 season.
