Twen: “Lucky Onze”
A little psych, a little Brit pop, a little bouncy throwback 90s alt rock. Twen has a ball with their latest single “Lucky Onze,” chock full of musical Easter eggs and curlicues, lovingly installed by artists who understand the assignment in the subsector of pop music that they’ve carved out for themselves. As always lead vocalist Jane Fitzsimmons steers the ship with swagger, mixing dry observations with rock n roll philosophizing, like the Gallaghers had a sister with all the chops and none of the attitudinal baggage.
Wait, Noel and Liam do have a sister! Her name is Emma Davies, and in 2006 she “wrote off” her dad just like her brothers did:
"I know now why they want absolutely nothing to do with Tommy…I accept him for what he is now, which is an idiot. He never took any interest in me. He would never ask about me. And he made out that what had happened between my mum and him was mum's fault. He was a married man and had an affair with my mum. She had no idea he was married. He was full of lies. I feel so stupid for thinking he could be the father I always wanted."
Tommy taking fire!
