phoneswithchords: “cut the kid”
“cut the kid” off cut the kid by phoneswithchords
A finger picking, solo guitar effort from Tennessee’s phoneswithchords. Waves of synth sound create a meatier atmosphere, building into something like an anthem for the bedroom pop crowd. Shades of a more lofi The Sea and Cake. Our highlighted title track “cut the kid” reads like a reference to self harm.
The mood of the music is mournful, but the true message remains ambiguous.
By the way, the sound doesn’t kick in until about 8 or 9 seconds. If you’re listening in the company of others, you will come dangerously close to having to trade small talk to cover the dead air. Horror of horrors! Oh, and there’s another 30 seconds of silence on the tail end. You’ve been warned.
