NOBRO: “Let’s Do Drugs”

This Montreal band NOBRO is having a hoot. Our highlighted track “Let’s Do Drugs” doesn’t take itself too seriously – it’s just out for a romp like the Ramones “Wanna Be Sedated.”

And the lyrics are talking about the “drugs we used to do in the 90s”? No way anyone in this band was alive in the 90s, let alone doing drugs in that decade. So the singer must be using a kind of royal (or proletarian) “We.”

Is the 90s known as a particularly druggy decade? Sure, there were some high-profile overdoses, and the hippie culture of Woodstock returned, and a whole subvariant of hip hop obsessed with smoking pot developed…

OK, I guess the 90s were a druggy decade, but point to a decade that isn’t druggy for the bourgeoisie in advanced industrialized western nations. See my point?
