No/Nations: “Slow Runner”
There’s a clarity to the guitar and percussion on “Slow Runner” that gives the track a kind of 80s feel. You know, that pristine quality favored by the major label New Wave crowd, where every instrument sounded like it was recorded in a dust-free, vacuum-sealed white box studio. On the other hand the vocals bring a scruffier, cozier aesthetic that helps round off some of the sharper edges. Nice tag team vocal work pushes the song into opposite ends of the register, and makes for pert harmonies in this rock/pop jammer from No/Nations. Is this a band we previously called ‘post hardcore’? Let’s call this single ‘post post post hardcore’.
