Neponset Monastery: “Scent of Betrayal”
What does betrayal smell like? Really, it could smell like almost anything. What you need to imagine is some real, concrete circumstance in which betrayal occurred, and observe what scents were associated with that circumstance.
Imagine being betrayed by your lover, coming home to find them in bed with a stranger. Maybe there’s a scent of perfume or cologne in the air. Or maybe Axe body spray. Or maybe one of the more obscure, boutique scents in the Yankee Candle Company collection like “Caribbean Breeze” or “Neon Versailles” or some such other scent that a “New England”-branded candlemaker has no business with.
Give me back the old classics. Make “Pine Tree,” “Cranberry Bog,” and “Pumpkin Patch” great again.
What say you darkwave rawkers Neponset Monastery? Our highlighted track “Scent of Betrayal” lays down the gauntlet on their self-titled EP.
