Moon Bros.: “The Wheel”
American primitive? It’s an interesting category of music that’s hard to define. But the trend is folky, self-taught musical stylings. Often the tuning, or chords, or fingering-method is a bit off the norm. But it works because the music works.
Moon Bros., a mostly solo project of guitarist Fred Schneider, is self- described as American primitive. If you’re interested in a point for comparison and contrast, we’ve covered the acoustic guitar music of Glenn Jones, who also calls his music (or it’s been called by others) American primitive.
Our highlighted track “The Wheel” contains some squirrelly finger-picking with a homemade tang. Accordion too. Off the EP by the same name, The Wheel. Available as a co-release between Armadillo Tail Recording Company and Feeding Tube Records.
