Lia Kohl: “Plane”

Kind of like the sound of sawing Superman’s crystal Fortress of Solitude in half. Minimal noisescapes from Chicago’s Lia Kohl on our highlighted track “Plane.” Her primary instrument at hand is a cello, but it’s just one tool in the toolbox full of rubber mallets, discarded burner phones, and clown noses. Found sounds, or “field recordings” as you like, settle into the mix. Shades of a sclerotic Claire Rousay with a deeper faith in their classical training and the post-millennial arc of the Western canon. Off the full-length Normal Sounds. Available via Moon Glyph.
