Framingham’s King Author revels in what he calls “traditional rap” on his 2020 full-length LP Insurgent Theory. What’s that? Sounds like a return to a world of rap before trap beats and trap variants dominated the soundscape. No autotune either, at least on the two tracks available for streaming via Bandcamp. You can call it a Throwback Thursday, or maybe better call it a Back To The Future. Someone’s got to lead us out of the brambles and thorns of the latest musical trend that’s souring faster than the disco beat. Why not King Author?
